Compartment paper, how to recast percent

One paper compartment. Old overall used 28 in that subject. New result 51 in that subject. You dont average 28 and 51. You replace. New obtained sum = old sum − 28 + 51. Total usually same. Then percent again on Marks to Percentage or rebuild rows on the five subject tool.

Which box you actually fill

If you only have final totals, Marks to Percentage. If you have subject rows, Subject Percentage with the new number in that row. Dont keep the fail marks in a second row. If a number is still in a screenshot gallery, type from the marksheet, not from the screenshot crop that cut the total.

Numbers I ran so you can copy the habit

Try these in Marks to Percentage and see the same shape of result.

• Old 412/600 with one paper 28, new paper 51 → 435/600 = 72.50%
• If compartment total is still 100, total 600 stays
• If they print a new grand total, use that grand total
• Fail marks 28 should not remain in the sum

Write your own under them. Same boxes, your marks. Dont stop at reading my examples like they are your gazette.

Where people mess it

Adding compartment as a seventh paper. Then total becomes 700 and percent looks fake. Replace, dont append, unless the sheet actually appends. A second classic: mixing marks of two different exams in one percent. Preboard plus board is two percents. Improvement plus original is a policy question, not a blend.

Before you send it to a human

Say the formula in one line when you paste. Obtained over total, or CGPA times multiplier, or present over conducted. Humans fight less when the recipe is visible. If they have a circular, the circular wins. This is an estimate. Your board formula may differ.

Tiny checklist I actually use

Phone brightness up. Marksheet photo uncropped. Obtained first, total second, unless the tool labels it different. Yellow Calculate once. If the result is over 100 or a CGPA over 10 without cap, I did a box swap. If attendance, I say out loud present and conducted so I dont type 75 as present. If two papers remaining, remaining max is the sum of those totals. If parents are watching, I say the recipe before the number so they dont remix it. Then I close the tab. The number is not going to improve because I stare.
